Whether you eat it with a spoon, drink it with a straw or dip your fries in it, nothing beats a Wendy’s Frosty. The chocolatey treat is a classic and a must-have after a trip to Wendy’s.

The fast-food chain is about to give the original Frosty a run for its money, however, all in honor of their 50th birthday. Nov. 15, 1969, marks the day Dave Thomas founded Wendy’s Old-Fashioned Hamburgers. So, the chain is celebrating in a big way with two brand new additions to their dessert line-up: a Birthday Cake Frosty and Birthday Cake Frosty Cookie Sundae!

First up, the Birthday Cake Frosty is a creamy vanilla Frosty mixed with the flavor of a classic birthday cake. A small costs $1.49, and it’s at participating locations for a limited time.

The Birthday Cake Frosty Cookie Sundae takes the vanilla and birthday cake Frosty flavors and combines them with sugar cookie pieces and sprinkles. The sundae costs $2.19 and is also only around for a limited time at participating locations.

The original Frosty has been on menus since the restaurant began and was actually one of five original menu items, along with hamburgers, chili, French fries and soft drinks. Back in 1969, a Frosty cost just 35 cents, about 20 cents cheaper than a hamburger or chili.

Today, Wendy’s says they sell more than 300 million Frosty’s in a typical year. Aside from the original chocolate version, Wendy’s has also had vanilla Frosty at one time and a Frosty Cookie Sundae that combined a regular Frosty with Chocolate Chunk Cookie bites and Ghirardelli Chocolate Sauce.

If you’d rather stick with the classic Frosty to celebrate Wendy’s 50th birthday, you can of course still order one. You could also try your hand at making your own! This recipe calls for only three ingredients: sweetened condensed milk, chocolate milk and Cool Whip!

Will you be trying Wendy’s new Birthday Cake Frosty or Birthday Cake Frosty Cookie Sundae?
