Tropical wave moves into the Gulf of Mexico

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It was another hot and humid day here in the Coastal Bend with temperatures soaring into the mid-90s with a few isolated showers popping up this afternoon.

We will see similar weather conditions the next couple of days. Things could get a little more tricky with a tropical disturbance likely to move into the Texas coastline on Friday.

The forecast for tonight calls for partly cloudy skies with an overnight low around 76.

Tomorrow we can expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds with a daytime high of 95 with winds blowing out of the southeast at 10 to 15 mph. Temperatures will remain in the mid-90s again on Thursday.

There will be a possibility of rain showers increasing starting on Thursday night. The potential for locally heavy rainfall will be best on late Friday and Saturday when the approaching tropical storm will have its biggest impact.

However, things could change rapidly if the disturbance moves in along the Upper Texas Coast, leaving us on the dry side of it.

We will have to closely monitor the Gulf of Mexico during the next couple of days.

The National Hurricane Center is now giving the tropical wave about a 40 percent chance of developing into a depression.
