CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A strong cold front blasted through the Coastal Bend before daybreak today, with north winds gusting over 25 miles an hour and temperatures 30 degrees lower than yesterday. Significant rainfall also pelted parts of the region. A few showers are expected Saturday, but warmer air will make a quick return. Rainfall totals exceeded 1.5 inches in Alice and Kingsville with even higher totals in rural parts of Duval and Jim Wells Counties. The pattern bringing the cold air and rain comes to an end by Saturday, with high pressure moving east and returning onshore flow to the region. Expect highs in the 80s this weekend and all next week. Isolated showers return with a weak disturbance on Tuesday, then another cold front is preceded by scattered thunderstorms next Friday.
