The combination of a cold front and strong upper level dynamics brought areas of heavy rain to the Coastal Bend today, leaving soaked fields but replenishing dry watersheds.
Rainfall comes to an end tonight, but the coldest air of the season is set to arrive the first of next week, bringing a possible freeze inland Tuesday morning. The round of much-needed rainfall is the result of strong jet stream dynamics lifting Gulf moisture over this morning's weak cold front.
Many spots received over two inches of rain with more to come. A strong Polar high moves into the State early next week, with extremely dry air that will chill much of the region with freezing temperatures early Tuesday.
Another cold front late Wednesday reinforces the cool air for the balance of the work week. That front also may bring additional showers, but not heavy rain.
Expect highs in the 50s and 60s, with lows in the 40s and 50s, except 30s Tuesday morning.
