Partly cloudy, warm and humid conditions this afternoon are accompanied by isolated light rain showers ahead of a weak cold front.
The front will crawl through the region overnight, dropping temperatures slightly ahead of a quick warm-up late Monday. Another cold front Wednesday will have little impact, but a third Friday night promises scattered showers and thunderstorms ahead of much cooler conditions over the weekend.
Showers this afternoon are dropping only a few hundredths of an inch or rain, and even less rain is expected with scant shower chances Tuesday night and early Wednesday. However, the system Friday night and early Saturday has much more upper air support, thus can ingest and process much more Gulf moisture to produce significant shower and thunderstorm activity.
Once the storms exit the region, a windy and much cooler Saturday is in store, followed by a sunny but cool Sunday.
Highs this week will be in the lower 80s, then fall into the lower 70s over the weekend. Lows in the 60s during the work week will tumble deep into the 50s through the weekend.
