CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — Strong daytime heating and modest amounts of moisture allowed isolated showers this afternoon, but downward vertical moisture and even less moisture preclude rain chances Thursday through Sunday.
Tropical humidity and an associated disturbance bring the potential for significant rainfall early next week.
Lots of sun and lower humidity will allow afternoon temperatures in the upper 90s Thursday through Sunday, then increasing cloud cover and rain potential will hold the mercury to the lower 90s Monday and Tuesday.
Lows will remain in the middle 70's.
A close eye is being kept on the tropics, with tropical disturbance 97L moving across the Caribbean and expected to become a tropical cyclone this weekend as it turns toward the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.
