CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An Arctic air mass is moving into the Coastal Bend late this afternoon, sending temperatures downward and spreading freezing rain across the region.

Freezing drizzle and freezing rain with change over to sleet and snow overnight, with up to an inch of snow accumulation possible by daybreak. Dangerously cold wind chill is expected from tonight through midday Tuesday, with near record cold air temperatures Tuesday morning.

After a brief respite from the dangerous weather, another strong disturbance moves into range Tuesday night and will be associated with widespread rain. Some freezing rain can be expected in northern Coastal Bend areas, but this will be generally a liquid event.

Rain should end midday Wednesday. A light freeze early Wednesday is anticipated, and a hard freeze early Thursday. Fair and warming conditions will prevail Friday through Sunday. After brutal cold, highs in the 70s over the weekend will be most welcome.
