CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Hurricane Delta's brush with the Coastal Bend sent two to three feet of Gulf water over beaches this afternoon, but the seas will recede by early Saturday.
The weekend will feature extreme afternoon heat but no rain. Two cold fronts bring slight relief from the heat but no rain next week.
The passing of the hurricane east of our coastal waters left a gusty northwest wind in its wake, and that offshore flow is heating the atmosphere to near record levels.
As upper level high pressure moves in this weekend, highs in the middle 90s can be expected.
The dryness of the air will allow overnight cooling to the lower 70s.
A cold front early Tuesday, and another on Friday, will take temperatures down to near normal.
