Closely monitoring the tropics

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It was more of the same today with another very hot and humid day here in the Coastal Bend.

We are watching a few isolated showers popping up in the northern sections of our viewing area. This trend will continue for the next couple of days.

The weather forecast could get a bit tricky late in the week. The forecast for tonight calls for partly cloudy skies and mild weather conditions with an overnight low around 76 degrees.

Expect a mixture of sunshine and clouds again on Tuesday with a few isolated showers possible. Daytime high temperatures will be about 94 with winds blowing out of the southeast at 10 to 15 mph.

We will continue with hit and miss showers through Thursday as all eyes will also be on the Gulf of Mexico the next few days.

A tropical wave will move into the Gulf from the Carribbean tomorrow. This disturbance has about a 20 percent chance of developing into a tropical depression.

The system has the potential for bringing us some pretty heavy rainfall late Thursday and into the weekend. The heaviest rainfall is likely on Friday.

However, this could very much change depending on the movement and strengthening of the tropical wave.

Those in the area should continue to monitor the weather closely over the next couple of days as we are in Hurricane season.
