Heat and humidity climb as we head into the weekend

High pressure aloft will strengthen over south Texas the next few days keeping us dry as we head through the weekend. A stray coastal shower is possible in our strengthening onshore flow, but most areas will be rain free and will see plenty of sunshine. As the onshore flow increases, humidity will rise which will bring afternoon heat indices up to near 110 this weekend. Also, days will be windy both Saturday and Sunday.

Tonight: Partly cloudy with lows in the low 70s inland and mid to upper 70s near the coast. Winds will stay under 8 mph from the east.

Thursday & Friday: Temperatures will climb to the mid 80s at the beaches and low to mid 90s inland with afternoon heat indices reaching 100-104 degrees. Winds will shift to the southeast up to 15 mph.

Weekend: Days will heat up into the upper 80s at the beaches and mid to upper 90s inland with southeast winds at 20-25 mph, gusting to 30 mph. Heat indices will reach as high as 112 degrees during peak heating. It looks mainly dry with the exception of a stray coastal shower.
