A cold front will move across south Texas Wednesday afternoon and night, bringing scattered showers and t-storms to the coastal bend. Behind the front, we won’t cool down but we will see a drop in humidity as winds shift to the north.

Tonight: It will be muggy with lows only dropping into the lower 70s as southeast winds continue at 12-18 mph. An upper level disturbance moving in from the southwest could trigger a few showers or t-storms overnight with the best chance along the coast.

Wednesday:  A shower is possible in the early morning but most of the day looks dry but humid with southeast winds at 15-20 mph, gusting up to 32 mph at times. High temperatures will reach the upper 70s at the beaches to the lower 80s inland. An isolated storm is possible in our inland counties in the afternoon but our better chance of storm moves in during the evening hours. Scattered showers and t-storms are expected in the evening and overnight as a cold front tracks through. We will monitor these for the potential of severe storms. The main threats are damaging wind and large hail but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.

Extended: Rain moves out by daybreak Thursday as winds shift to the north, ushering in drier air. It won’t be as humid Thursday and skies will become mostly sunny with a north breeze at 12-20 mph. This will cool our nights into the lower 60s for the end of the week but days will stay warm, reaching the lower 80s under sunny skies through Saturday. As winds shift to the southeast Saturday, humidity will slowly rise and highs will reach the mid to upper 80s. We’ll see a few more clouds Sunday as southeast winds increase to 20 mph, gusting to 30 mph at times.
