CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — A man accused of shooting and killing two men in a home on the city's west side appeared before a judge Tuesday morning.
Jose Luis Ramirez, 27, appeared before Judge Melissa Madrigal in magistrate court.
Judge Madrigal told Ramirez has been charged with the capital murder of multiple persons. His bond was set at $1,000,000.
Ramirez told the judge he would hire an attorney to represent him in court.
Investigators believe Ramirez shot and killed 26-year-old Daniel Garza and 25-year old George Soto inside of a home in the 1200 block of Elgin Street on Thursday.
According to an arrest report, U.S. Marshalls arrested Ramirez the next day on unrelated warrants to the double homicide investigation. Over the weekend, investigators gathered additional evidence connected to the homicide investigation on Elgin Street. Monday, Ramirez was charged with capital murder.
According to investigators with the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office, the victims would have celebrated their birthdays the weekend before they were found dead.
