High school football regular season games start next week for area teams Class 4A and below. The COVID-19 pandemic is putting a crunch on how many fans will be allowed inside stadiums.

And due to social distancing restrictions, seating capacities at area stadiums will be limited.

For CCISD venues like Buc Stadium and Cabaniss Field, seating will be limited to less than 50 percent of capacity.

At Buc Stadium, fans will be allowed to sit in groups of just four.

And at Cabaniss Field, fans will be allowed to sit in groups of just three.

There will be no season ticket sales or reserved seating this year, just general admission.

"This past week completed taping off Buc Stadium and Multipurpose Stadium has already been taped off,” CCISD Athletics Director Brenda Marshall said. “Where you see blue tape is where you do not sit and we will have signs up. So, if there is no tape there then that's where a group or family would have a chance where they can sit.”

And non-CCISD bands and drill teams will not attend games this year.

When it comes to buying tickets, parents of players, band members, drill teams and cheerleaders will get first priority early in the week of each game.

Students can purchase tickets on Wednesdays and all remaining tickets will be available to the general public .

“We wanted to make sure that our parents of the four groups that will be at the football games performing and playing they get a chance to watch their son play along with their daughters,” Marshall said.

There are several other guidelines regarding ticket sales, which CCISD will be posting on its website this week.

The first game is a week from Friday night when Miller plays host to Tuloso-Midway at Buc Stadium.
