These are very good times for Flour Bluff volleyball as the Lady Hornets have already clinched the 29-5A district championship.

Now, they are on the verge of a perfect regular season. If they can pick up wins over Carroll High School and Victoria East High School this week, they will have gone undefeated at 17-0.

That is pretty amazing when you consider there was no pre-season games or tournaments due to COVID-19. And like everyone else, they jumped into district action from the very beginning season.

Kara Wallace, who is the Flour Bluff Volleyball Team head coach, says, "Honestly I had no idea what to expect. I have a lot of really great kids and they work super hard but I just didn't know. We have some very competitive teams in our district so I knew they had it in them but they had to take the reigns."

There's no question there's a ton of talent on this team, but communication has been the biggest key to their success

Cali Nims, who is on the volleyball team, said, "Like outside the court we are pretty close and we are good friends and I think that brings good chemistry on the court when we play together."

Patton Sanders, who also plays on the team, added, "Really just a lot of good all around players who are good anywhere you put them on the court. We have some height, we are a really tall team I would say probably the tallest we have been in past years and it's just a really good group. We are really strong mentally tough and that's what Coach Wallace preaches to us."

So two more regular season games to play and then the real season starts next week with the playoffs and the Lady Hornets will have their eyes set on making it to state for the first time in school history.
