Top Rank Championship Boxing returns to the American Bank Center Friday night with a rematch of one of the more memorable recent local bouts.

Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez will defend his WBO Super Middleweight title against Jesse “Hollywood” Hart in the featured bout. They fought about 15 months ago with Ramirez winning by unanimous decision.

Zurdo is no stranger to Corpus Christi. He headlined a show here in February, knocking out previously unbeaten Habib Ahmed.

Ramirez is 30-0 and Friday’s fight will mark his fifth defense of the title.

Hart is 25-1, with his only defeat coming to Ramirez last year.

So a lot is on the line on Friday night.

Ramirez declined to reveal his strategy until Friday’s fight.

“Everybody will see my strategy  Friday night. And I am ready,” Ramirez said. “I’m ready for him whatever he bring to the ring. I am ready and everyone will see my strategy in the ring.”

Hart expects to trump whatever Ramirez brings to the ring on Friday night.

“Whatever he comes with, I am going to supersede it,” Ramirez said. “I am going to overmatch it. And like I said, I’m going to take my game, raise the bar.”

Friday’s fight at the American Bank Center certainly has the makings of a great rematch.

The bout will be streamed lived starting at 9 p.m. on ESPN Plus.
