5 Reasons to be Excited About the Future of Technology

The world is so different now than it was 100 years ago. In fact, it was only 15 years ago that we lacked technology that has become so integral to our lives today. Texting would take minutes instead of seconds, you couldn’t look anything up at the drop of a hat, and you couldn’t get the thing you bought with a button delivered to you the same day without paying a hefty price. Your phone was less of a super computer and more of an address book, and your computer certainly wasn’t lighter than air.

Technology has completely changed the way we see the world, and the way we see convenience. But how might it change in the future?

Check out these 5 reasons you should be excited about the future of technology:

1. You Could Go to Space

Elon Musk is on a mission to carry humans to and from space by 2020, and even send people to Mars by 2030. Although we all know that entertainment from the 80’s predicted we’d have all sorts of flashy technology by now that never came to fruition, Musk’s ambitions have brought us closer to these goals than ever before. This technology could transform not only how we connect with the world, but the connection humans have with space travel. Who knows – Star Trek could be a reality one day, after all.

2. Entertainment Will be More than 3D

You may have already tried out virtual reality (VR) video games or used augmented reality (AR) on your phone. But can you imagine a world where all your entertainment is that tangible and real? Movies where you feel like you’re directly in the middle of it all are already being made, and shopping using AR technology exists in retailers like Sephora. VR/AR is at its infancy stages now, but the possibilities it has for growth are endless. Soon, full immersion movies, video games, and even live entertainment could be directly at our fingertips!

3. Everything Will Be Customized

The age of personalization is the future. Whether its retail shopping in stores through augmented reality profiles or Amazon sending you what you want before you even know you want it, your experiences will become more and more customized and tailored to you alone. No more having to try on a hundred pairs of jeans to find one that fits, or even try on the clothes at all.

  4. Your Car Will Drive Itself

Imagine a morning commute where you can do whatever you want in the comfort of your car, without having to lift a finger. Right now, Uber and Google have been testing self-driving cars to bring out to the public market. A world where all transport runs on time, at your convenience, and can take you literally anywhere you want to go on the planet in a matter of minutes? Now, that sounds like a world you’d want to live in.

5. Better Medicine

The current state of medicine is the most advanced and fastest acting form that has ever existed on this Earth. The future of medicinal technology could help provide a cure for cancer, print body parts instead of transplanting them, and even create bionic prostheses that function even better than the missing limb. New medicinal technology could help cure diseases that today seem so prevalent, and help defend against the diseases of the future. What could be more exciting than that?
