The COVID-19 pandemic has been a trying time for many Coastal Bend businesses.
Throughout the crisis, Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend has been helping employees who were furloughed, or lost their jobs, ease back into the workforce. Now, it is helping businesses train their employees to meet the demands of the post-COVID-19 world.
"This is a really great opportunity for our local businesses to transform their business," said Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend's Monika De La Garza.
Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend is rolling out its new initiative: the Skills Development and Training Fund.
Companies can apply to have their employees trained, and receive up to $2,000 in training as part of the effort. The classes range from just one day to 12 weeks, all in the hopes of allowing companies and businesses to adapt to this new normal.
They have partnered with three groups that will be running the programs: Del Mar College, Texas A&M Engineering and Extension Services, and the Virtual Skills and Development Coalition.
"Del Mar has been around for 85 years in the Coastal Bend community and we are dedicated to ensuring that we have a strong post-secondary-education program in place for our citizens," said Leonard Rivera, the Dean of Continuing Education at Del Mar College.
Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend is providing endless amounts of resources to help our community during this trying time.
"We want everyone to fill out these applications so we can help them," De la Garza said.
