As we continue to rebound from the COVID-19 pandemic, many non-profits are struggling. Habitat for Humanity Corpus Christi has felt the effects firsthand.

Habitat for Humanity's ReStore reopened at the beginning of this month after being forced to close because of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

The first week's turnout was great, but manager Edward Garcia said the resale store is really in need of donations.

"We'll take appliances, furniture, any kind of building materials, hardware, yeah a number of things," he said.

The donations are then sold in the ReStore.

"The sales that come from the ReStore help to fund all our programs, from our builds to our critical repairs, to just our operating expenses," said Habitat for Humanity Corpus Christi Director of Community Relations Kristofer Morgan.

Habitat for Humanity is known for building homes. It builds two to three homes a year in the Corpus Christi area.

But, it also repairs critical parts of a home.

"I'd say we probably help 50 to 60 people each year with that," Morgan said.

In order for the community to receive help, the ReStore needs to generate funds, which come from donations.
