Troubleshooters: Local pastor says church roof left unfinished

ROBSTOWN, Texas — Pastor Adan Rubio and his father have led their church Templo Maranatha in Robstown for 43 years.

He told the Troubleshooters that the church roof was damaged by Hurricane Harvey in 2017, and it took three years before the church got the insurance money to get a new one.

So, in August 2020, they hired Brooks Steel Fabrication to put a new roof on the church building at a cost of $16,500.00, paperwork shows.

"We're better off because he replaced the whole roof, you understand? But there are things he didn't finish,” the Pastor said.

And that’s why they called the Troubleshooters for help.

He wants things like the insulation around the heating and a/c unit fixed. It’s wet from all the recent rain in the Coastal Bend.

There’s also been water on the floor of the church lobby, the Pastor claims.

When the company stopped work on the roof, church leaders began trying to contact Brooks Steel Fabrication to get them to come back and finish what they started. And Brooks kept responding that they’d get back to them.

But Rubio tells us, they haven’t.

On Friday, January 4th, 2021, Mark Brooks of Brooks Steel Fabrication told us by phone that COVID-19 had put them behind schedule, but that the necessary materials were in, and they’ll be out tomorrow, Wednesday, to complete the job, a job he says he gave the church a $9000.00 discount on.

We’ll let you know when the work is completed.
