CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — An unusual twist to today’s Troubleshooters report.

A contractor tears down work they’ve done for a customer, and now the customer is asking for a refund.

All Herb and Darlene Roussel want is a screened-in patio.

In June they hired Jon Crouch and JMDT Construction to do the job.

“Well one, he was from Louisiana. We’re from Louisiana, so we thought, ok, good Louisiana people. And the price was right,” Roussel said.

The total price?

$2,400.

The Rousel’s put $1,400 down.

But the work done on their patio has been torn down.

“So at one point, all of this was up ? Up. Yes. And why did they tear it down ? Because we didn’t want to pay them more money,” Roussel said.

The Rousel's tell the Troubleshooters Crouch wanted more money for labor.

Here’s what happened,according to Crouch.

“The husband told my guy to tear it down, and that he would go buy the aluminum,” he said.

Crouch says that happened at the very end, when the project was pretty much done, and the final $1,000 was due.

“But I don’t see where you like, if you agree to a certain product, and you don’t want to spend the money on aluminum at the beginning, just at the end of it, that doesn’t mean you just tear it all down and be done with it, does it ?“ Roussel said.

At this point, the Rousel’s just want their $1,400.

“I just want my money back and forget this ever happened.”

Crouch says he’s willing to split the money and haul away all the materials.

Let’s see what happens next.
