The Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner, announced via twitter that a company is interested in opening a major theme park in Houston again.
"We are working to bring a theme park like Astroworld back to Houston," Turner shared on Twitter. "A company is very interested in creating a uniquely-Houston experience. I expect an announcement within 6-8 weeks," Turner shared on Twitter.

Besides Typhoon Texas and Grand Texas, the last major theme park in Houston was called Astroworld. According to an Astroworld website run by former employees, Astroworld first opened it's doors back in June of 1968. They joined forces with Six Flags in 1975 until it unfortunately closed down due to financial problems with Premier Parks in October of 2005.
