When you think of Texas, you think of Dr Pepper, right? That’s what the company hopes for, at least.
Dr Pepper posted a petition on Change.org asking the Texas House to designate Dr. Pepper as the official soft drink of Texas. As of the time of writing, over 6,200 people have signed.
The popular soda was created in Waco in 1885 and is the oldest major soft drink in Texas.
“Dr Pepper is calling on its passionate fans to support its quest to become the first Official Soft Drink of the Lone Star State,” the petition says. “Dr Pepper has a rich, storied history in the great state of Texas and being named its official soft drink would mark a new milestone for the beloved brand to celebrate for generations to come.”
The company asks that fans also spread the word on social media by using the hashtag #DrPepperLovesTX.
