Alhough their recent history has been marked by struggles on the field, the Dallas Cowboys still are the most valuable property in the NFL.
Forbes Magazine in its annual valuation for each NFL team pegs the Cowboys with a league-high value of $5 billion.
The total is a 4 percent increase from last year and leads all NFL teams for the 12th consecutive season.
Forbes compiles similar value checks for all teams in the major North American professional sports leagues. The Cowboys are ahead of second place New England at $3.8 billion.
The New York Giants are third at $3.3 billion, followed by Los Angeles at $3.2 billion and Washington at $3.1 billion.
The Houston Texans are ninth with a value of $2.8 billion. The Buffalo Bills are last among the 32 NFL teams at $1.6 billion.
Collectively, NFL team values increased by 2 percent, the slowest yearly growth since 2010, according to Forbes. The average NFL team is worth an estimated $2.57 billion.
