According to a statement released by former President George W. Bush, he called both President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on Sunday to congratulate them on the outcome of the election.
"I know Joe Biden to be a good man, who has won his opportunity to lead and unify our country," the former president said in the statement.
He added that although President Trump has “the right to request recounts and pursue legal challenges,” he believes that Americans “can have confidence that this election was fundamentally fair, its integrity will be upheld, and its outcome is clear”.
He noted his and Biden's political differences, but added that Biden told him that he would govern for all Americans, which he also said in his victory speech Saturday night.
