A New York mother was given a parking ticket after pulling over to breastfeed her baby.

According to Guillermina Rodriguez, her 3-week-old newborn had started crying after 45 minutes of waiting in traffic, so she pulled over into a metered commercial zone and got in the back seat to breastfeed her child. After two minutes a policeman was there trying to tow her vehicle with her in it.

“I was almost crying because she’s crying, and all I wanted to do was pull over so I could attend to her. He just literally took out the tow truck. He was going to tow the car without even looking in there,” Rodrigueztold KTRK in New York.“I show him the baby, and obviously, my breasts. I’m like, ‘I’m breastfeeding the baby.’ And he looks, and then he just gives me the ticket and walks away,”

The mother thinks the ticket was unfair and is reaching out for breastfeeding advocates to help her spread awareness.
