UPDATE (4/21, 9:30 a.m.):
The Yorktown Mud Bridge has finally reopened on Friday after months of repairs.
Some folks in the area said being able to use this bridge again is a sigh of relief.
“As a resident of the area, I am super excited for that bridge to be opened up, it’s going to make my commute to and from work so much easier because traffic is going to be so alleviated,” resident Jacquelyn Dingas said.
“So it’s easier to take the mud bridge and get to where she’s at rather than go all the way around, so it’ll definitely help us,” Chris Ellis said, who lives off of Yorktown.
On Dec. 12, 2022 the city initiated an emergency closure of the Yorktown Mud Bridge to repair a sinkhole. Crews had to replace 22 of the 55 concrete pilings supporting the bridge.
The work to repair the damage sustained on the mud bridge began on Jan. 23.
70 working days later the bridge is back open.

Nueces County Emergency Services District No. 2 announced on their Facebook today that the Yorktown Mud Bridge will be reopened on Friday according to District 4 Councilman Dan Suckley.
The work to repair the damage sustained on the Mud Bridge began on Jan.23. They are now on their 57th working day of what is to be a 70-working-day project.
