CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Making sure our local heroes have everything they need this Christmas season.
Many of these veterans and first responders put their lives on the line to protect our country, and a local non-profit is stepping in to help these heroes, making sure they have a great Christmas.
However, they need volunteers.
Building resilience, reintegration, and restoration are just some of the terms apart of the mission of Burn Pits 360.
These actions will be on full display December 13th - 15th as hometown heroes meet the community.
“It's the key to survival, right I speak as a wife of a first responder and veteran it's crucial to be able to engage with your community and know that there's support,” says Executive Director Rosie Torres.
At La Palmera Mall the non-profit will host their 4th annual Wrapping for Warriors gathering.
Members with Burn Pits 360 say you do not have to be the best at wrapping gifts.
The main focus people would need to have, is getting to know these heroes and their families.
Volunteers will have the chance to hear these first responders and veterans’ stories help the ones who are in need with the hope for heroes’ tree.
Burn Pits 360 say the effects of battle can be long-lasting.
But having the community stand by a hero is a great help.
“It's a different trauma for different individuals but I think when you're out in the community and you're being embraced and you're being supported it's the key to survival,” says Torres.
If you would like to make a donation or register to volunteer, you can visit the Burn Pits 360 headquarters at 201 North 4th Street Robstown, TX 78380.
