U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela met with top brass at NAS Kingsville to discuss concerns and improvements.
Vela represents Texas’ 34th congressional district, a long strip that includes Kingsville and extends from the Valley up to east of San Antonio.
The representative met with NASK security officer Lt. Michael Ellis, who told him about the plan to improve access and security through the main gate of NAS Kingsville.
Vela also met with Housing Director Jonah Shalack, who briefed him on the plan to replace the aging Navy Gateway Inns & Suites with brand new unaccompanied housing for single service members.
He also discussed issues concerning the base and Training Air Wing Two with the base fire department and air operations.
