BEE COUNTY, Tx — 12:50 PM UPDATE- D.P.S. has identified the victims of Friday morning's crash as 22-year-old Marina Ramirez of Alice and 30-year-old Steven Gamez of Beeville.
According to DPS, Ramirez was in her 2016 Kia Forte traveling north on State Highway 359 when she hit a 2017 Mack garbage truck travelling in front of her. Her Kia spun around and stopped in the northbound lane.
Moments later, Gamez and his father pulled over to help her. Gamez pulled Ramirez from her car and was taking her back across the southbound lane of the highway when they were struck by a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado driver by a 66-year-old woman of Sandia, Texas.
Both Gamez and Ramirez were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by troopers with the Highway Patrol Office in Beeville.

9:30 AM UPDATE: D.P.S. announced the roadway will remain shut for another 2-3 hours as they bring in a drone to survey the crash site.

8:30 AM UPDATE: D.P.S. tells KRIS 6 News the victims of Friday morning's crash include a 22-year-old woman from Alice, Texas, and a 30-year-old Beeville man.
Their identities will be released after next of kin have been notified.

A portion of State Highway 359 in Bee County has been shut down after two people were fatally struck.
The crash occurred near Tynan around 5 a.m. Friday.
According to Sgt. Harold Mallory with the Texas Department of Public Safety, a woman's Kia Forte broke down after it struck a garbage truck. A man passing by stopped to help the woman. After helping the woman out of the car, he was helping her cross the roadway when both were struck by a truck and killed.
D.P.S. shut down the roadway while they investigated the crash.
As of 8 a.m. Friday, Mallory expected that portion of the highway to reopen within the hour.
