The city has announced that their short-term shelter is full, and is no longer accepting new guests.
STORY:
People who were sheltering from the cold at the American Bank Center are in a new location this morning.
The American Bank Center experienced a power outage yesterday morning, forcing organizers to come up with a Plan B.
City leaders say they originally chose the American Bank Center because lots of the city's homeless live near it and it has plenty of restrooms.
But when the power went out there, officials chose to move people from the ABC to the FEMA Dome at Del Mar College's West Campus.
Unlike the previous location – the FEMA Dome has a generator.
“We'll keep that location as the shelter of choice,” Corpus Christi City Manager Peter Zanoni said. “We're not exactly sure how long through the week we'll keep it in operation, but as long as the weather is cold, we'll keep it and we'll decide as we move through the week."
City fleet vans transported around 120 shelter users from the ABC to Del Mar West on Monday night.
Organizers are also are providing meals and personal protective equipment to people staying at the shelter.
