ROBSTOWN, Texas — While it may be a small town, the opinions of those living in Robstown vary greatly when it comes to how they’re perceiving the protests out in Washington D.C. during what was supposed to be the confirmation of president-elect Joe Biden.
Many area residents did not want to talk to us in fear of the social ramifications. One woman, a Trump supporter, said she chooses to keep her political views to herself, although she said she does support the protests.
Fred Schroeder, a Robstown local, and also a supporter of President Trump, joins thousand of Americans in his skepticism of the election results despite repeated facts that state otherwise.
“I feel like the election was completely messed up,” he said. “I don’t trust the elections at all now. Especially now that the Democrats are in charge.”
On the other side of the aisle, one woman who voted for president-elect Joe Biden was too uncomfortable to go on camera, but said that this was a sad moment in American history.
Julie Mungia, another Robstown resident sees this as completely fair election.
“It’s just that Trump doesn’t want to get out of the White House,” she said, adding that its best for the country to move forward as a whole with Biden. “But I think it was fair — they just don’t want to admit it — along with him."
