BEE COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating an auto-pedestrian crash that left one dead on January 8, 2021.
According to Sergeant Nathan Brandley, at around 9:44 p.m., a driver was on US 59 traveling east when they tried to pass a semi-trailer in a passing zone and struck a pedestrian in the roadway. Both drivers stopped to render aid, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pedestrian was identified as 23-year-old John David Ybanez Jr. from Beeville, TX.
The fatal crash is still under investigation.
