ODEM, Texas — A football team came together to inspire each other with an impressive touchdown.
It was a heartfelt moment for the Odem Owls when one of their teammates made it to the end-zone!
“Big-time players make big-time plays and he made the play for us to tie it up,” says Odem Owls quarterback Xavier Drennon.
Thomas Mann has a love for the game of football.
Despite Mann's physical limitations, the team says they see past that and express how every player deserves to be treated with care and respect.
Under the Friday night lights, football games in Odem bring many families together.
The team played against Hebbronville and for Thomas Mann, this just might be a game to remember as he helped his Owls score a touchdown.
“It was a very good game, I scored a touchdown, it made me feel happy,” says Mann.
Players say this was a motivational moment on how everyone should be treated the same.
“Treat people right and be caring and respectful for others and that's what this was about being respectful and caring with Thomas and helping him share that experience,” says head coach Armando Huerta.
Huerta says this moment came down to a celebration of the sport, through Thomas.
And the following game was the Owls homecoming.
This was a huge moment for Thomas as he was crowned as the 2019 Homecoming King.
