CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — With the State of Texas re-opening, area beaches will be packed, as will hotels and motels in the area.

A man sent us a picture of an Island hotel dumpster, overflowing with trash, which he says attracts rodents.

James White sent us a picture of trash behind an Island hotel that he lives close to.

He wants something done about it.

“They tell me they have trash pick up three times a week," White said. "Whatever they have, it’s inadequate because they shouldn’t be piling bags of trash outside and feeding the rats and possums around here.”

We spoke with hotel ownership about it, but they declined to be interviewed on camera for this story.

However, within minutes of our conversation, one of their employees was cleaning up the area, loading up his truck with discarded bulk items.

We contacted the city's Solid Waste and Code Enforcement Departments.

They will have someone check this out to see what needs to be done.

They further told us this matter is between the hotel and the private contractor that picks up their trash.

Hotel ownership did tell us that they have video showing people who aren’t guests, dumping their trash here.

“It’s not right,” White said, “but I’m not law enforcement. I live here."

White added that he had never dumped any garbage in the dumpsters, no did he know anybody who has.

What a difference a day made here.

Keep in mind, there is another dumpster next to this one. It belongs to the hotel next door.

They told us they will get their area cleaned up as well.
