CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Metro Ministries has come up with a unique way to help people who need warm clothing while maintaining a safe distance due to the pandemic.
Staff are now hanging coats and other cold weather gear along the fence outside the shelter.
The clothesline started during during the holiday season last year while the front office was closed due to the Coronavirus.
People who need weather clothing are being invited to select what they need from the fence.
Metro Ministries Chief Executive Officer Patty Clark said, "It's not just the people that are living on the street. It's the people living in the margin , they're barely housed and barely housed often means no heat. And
sometimes not water and sometimes not light."
If you have some cold weather gear you would like to donate - you can take it to Metro Ministries located at 1919 Leopard Street.
You are asked to hang the items on the fence and not dump them on the ground.
And if you would like to help out other non-profit groups who help the homeless, you can find that list here.
