MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Lowe's Company Inc plans to hire more than 50,000 workers across its U.S. stores as it rushes to meet the demand for home improvement products during the pandemic.
The demand for home improvement goods surged since the start of the pandemic. Homeowners with limited options for travel or leisure activities are spending their income on remodeling and repair work.
To prepare for the busy season, Lowe's is actively filling positions such as seasonal, full-time and part-time roles to help customers purchase products and services during the pandemic. Over the past year, Lowe's said it has hired more than 90,000 workers for permanent roles.
The company announced its continued investments in its front-line associates with an additional $80 million in discretionary bonuses. The latest bonus means the company has spent nearly $1.3 billion in its commitment to the company's associates, communities and store safety during the pandemic.
The bonuses will begin Feb. 5 for active hourly associates at U.S. stores, distribution centers and call centers for their continued dedication. Full-time hourly associates will receive $300, and part-time and seasonal associates will receive $150. This will be the seventh bonus or special payment Lowe's has provided to hourly associates during the pandemic.
