ROBSTOWN, Texas — You could say some "fowl" characters took over the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show.
Area kids trotted out their turkeys for showing on Wednesday.
High school senior Rylee Hooper's turkey was named the reserve champion.
Hooper told us she's proud of her accomplishments after overcoming many challenges due to the pandemic.
"We we're all so worried how the show was going to be this year, who we were going to able to be with…last year was totally different since we were in full virtual quarantine," Hooper said. "And so this year I'm really grateful that we're able to be out there in the arena again with my family."
On Friday, KRIS 6 News will be at the Junior Livestock Show all day.
It will start on KRIS 6 Sunrise, where we will speak with competitors and take in the sights from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.
And then on KRIS 6 News at 5 and 6, Katia Uriarte, Pat Simon and sports director Alan Harwell will be live for all the events.
Be sure to tune in on Friday.
