Corpus Christi is getting into the real estate market as they start to buy homes in high-risk flood areas.

And the Texas General Land Office is giving the city $1.3 million to do it.

The GLO says the city can use the money to buy homes at fair market value and then help the people who live there move to an area that doesn't flood as often.

No word on when that process will begin.
