CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man accused of driving drunk and causing a deadly crash has been found guilty by a Nueces County jury.

27-year-old John Andrew Alvarado was facing one count of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and two counts of intoxication assault with a vehicle. Alvarado will be tried on anther charge, one count of attempting to commit an accident involving death, at a later date.

Corpus Christi Police say back in Decemeber 2017, Alvarado was driving a car that caused a chain-reaction crash on Saratoga Boulevard. The crash killed 41-year-old Brenda Rodriguez and two of her children were injured.

The sentencing phase in the trial will continue this week.
