CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — According to Judge Madrid, the vaccine will be distributed thru the Christus Spohn Healthcare System.

In a statement, Spohn president and CEO Dr. Osbert Blow says ‘they are excited to be the first in the Coastal Bend and among the first in South Texas to receive and administer the vaccine.’

This first round will be for hospital workers.

The second round, anticipated a week or so later, will be for first responders, including law enforcement, fire fighters, rescue personnel.

And then a short time after that, the third round for the general public.
People like Beatriz Garza, who lives with family members who had the virus.
" I was very blessed that I was in the same household and I never got ill by it. Always used my mask. Keep my distance. Always carrying my anti-bacterial with me. Washing my hands thoroughly."

But there’s a lot to be done first.
"The message that was given to us very clear, was to be ready. Have your teams ready. Have tour plan in place. Local plan in place."

What that means is providers who can administer the vaccine. Safe haven it. Store it. Have a recovery area, and provide security.

"Our sheriff, Richard Kirkpatrick, has already applied to be a authorized user. He has the sub-zero coolers needed. So we have the ability to both administer and store them."
