BEEVILLE, Tx — Neighbors in Beeville now have some relief with the city providing cases of water. They've been without water at their homes since Tuesday, Feb. 18.
Beeville City Manager John Benson issued a boil water notice for Beeville on Wednesday, February 19, until further notice.
A press release from Benson says that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required the city to notify all customers due to reduced distribution system pressure.
KRIS 6 News spoke with City Manager, John Benson whose been at the forefront of the battle to resolve this major issue.
"The problem started about 2 to 3 weeks ago when a leak was found on our raw water line that provides water from lake Corpus Christi to our water treatment plant,” Benson said.
Work to repair that leak started Monday, but other problems came up. Causing major setbacks.
"One of our water storage tanks not the north side of town ran out of water, which resulted in a portion of the city losing water yesterday morning,” Benson said.
That led to a water boil notice that is currently in effect.
Now, neighbors in Beeville are asking when they will have water again.
"Once the water treatment plant can get up to full operation within 3 to 4 hours, we'll have water coming back into the city, and when we start that phase, we anticipate it'll take 48 hours to get the system back to normal,” Benson said.
Benson expects water in Beeville to be back to normal by this weekend as well as the water boil notice to be lifted. Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice publicly or distributing copies by hand or mail.
