19-year-old motorcyclist identified after fatal crash at the bottom of Harbor Bridge

The motorcycle driver who was killed Thursday afternoon in an accident on the Harbor Bridge has been identified.

The Corpus Christi Medical Examiner has identified the victim as 19-year-old Juan David Beltran.

According to police, Beltran was traveling south at the base of the bridge when he crashed into the rear of an 18-wheeler.

Beltran died at the scene, officials say. The driver of the semi-truck wasn't hurt.

The accident shut down the bridge's southbound lanes for several hours as traffic investigators gathered evidence.

Traffic coming into Corpus Christi is nonexistent after a motorcyclist was killed, clearing the roadway.

According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, at around 3:45 p.m., an 18-wheeler and a motorcyclist were involved in a collision off HWY 181 South that resulted in the motorcyclist's death.

All southbound traffic has been diverted to downtown through the Joe Fulton Corridor.

CCPD expects the cleanup to be finished up by this evening.
