A staff member at Calallen High School was placed on administrative leave Monday after reportedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Calallen Independent School District sent out a news release Tuesday afternoon about the allegation, and a similarly worded letter to parents.
The letter and release begin: "On January 6, 2020, it was alleged to Calallen High School administration that a Calallen High School staff member was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a student. In accordance with protocol and school board policy, an investigation was initiated. The matter was immediately reported and turned over to the Corpus Christi Police Department for further investigation, and the staff member was immediately placed on administrative leave."
Corpus Christi Police Department is investigating the matter, which the district said was immediately reported, and CCPD Public Information Officer Senior Officer Travis Pace confirmed.
Pace said the report has been forwarded to its Criminal Investigation Division, which is currently investigating, and that no arrests have been made.
"We remain confident that we are doing everything possible to keep our students safe," the release reads. "Calallen ISD respectfully declines to comment further on any personnel issue regarding a staff member."
