CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Morgan Avenue Improvement Project will soon begin construction.
Money from two bond issues will be used to fix drainage issues, repave the road and add new sidewalks.
Later this month crews will begin work on the area between Crosstown and Staples Street.
Phase Two of the Project will cover work on Morgan Avenue from Staples Street to Ocean Drive.
Business owners are hoping the construction work doesn't drive away customers.
"I'd imagine that I will lose some, I'm sure... I hope that my customers will be able to understand the situation and cope with what is there," said Servando Laurel, owner of City Barber Shop.
"I hope they work with us, because we need our customers parking," said Fruit King owner, Connie Martinez.
The City says construction is expected to be completed in 2021.
