BEEVILLE, Texas — People living in Beeville are shocked after not getting their water bill in the mail.

The City of Beeville says those bills still need to be paid in full.

Eva Caudillo started noticing that her water bill was not coming in the mail.

She found an article explaining from City Manager Joe Montez, that the printing system has been down since August 2019.

Caudillo says finding out now is unacceptable.

“And when he mentioned about the printer being out since August, I’m all like, so that's what the problem was? You know? You being a city manager you're responsible for the city you should've taken care of it you should've done something responsible about it. Period,” says Caudillo.

Our Action News team sat down with City Manager of Beeville Joe Montez.

Montez says a waterline had erupted causing flooding to City Hall, so bad the department had to relocate.

With the flooding and moving that caused the system to go down.

“It's unfortunate but it was something that we could not prevent, and it happened,” says Montez.

However, people in the area still need to pay their bill in full and if you have trouble Montez says the City will work with you.

“It’s no different, rather they got the bill or didn't get the bill, I know it's our fault but it’s something that was a catastrophe to us,” says Montez.

The City says they expect to have new equipment in 10 to 12 days.
