The letter reads: "In an effort to be as transparent as possible, we feel it is necessary to inform you of an incident that occurred thoight at Banquete High School. A BHS student made a verbal threat this evening regarding bringing a weapon to school to other students once they had returned from a field trip. Our students immediately reported the incidentto school administration. The school administrators then immediately notified local law enforcement to begin an investigation for enforecement of appropriate action. At no time during the field trip or during the school day, was there any immediate danger to any student or staff member. The procedures that we have in place, allowed us to handle this situation prior to students returning to the school tomorrow morning. We appreciate your willingness to continually trust us with your children. We make every effort to provide them with a safe and caring environment while at school or attending school functions. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Banquete High School at (361) 387-2551."

Some Banquete High School students visited State Rep. Abel Herrero at the Texas State Capitol in Austin on Thursday.
