CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Christmas is coming fast.
WIth package deliveries ramping up around the holidays, porch pirates are likely on the move.
One resident says he caught someone grabbing his mail and then taking off, and he's not the only victim.
Luke Ficarro says he was shocked to find thieves stealing his merchandise in his neighborhood.
He says his goal is to warn people living in the area and to find these thieves.
Ficarro found someone taking his packages in broad daylight.
The outgoing mail was full of gaming systems and other devices.
Luke has an online business, so he depends on putting his mail outside and to have boxes shipped to his customers.
But after thieves grabbed his merchandise, Luke chased after them on foot.
“I contacted the police I told all the neighbors etc. I'm trying to do everything to get them caught,” says Ficarro.
Luke says it was a caucasian male as the passenger taking the mail who then hopped into a black Infinity.
Also, Luke says he saw these same people taking boxes from other neighbors and they got away.
Now he's warning everyone to be careful so the same thing won't happen again.
“I don't know how someone could do this on the holidays. I think it’s immoral and it's wrong stealing presents from someone basically. Like a couple of these packages were most likely going to families or going to go to their children,” says Ficarro.
Shortly after the incident, Luke was able to file a police report.
According to Luke, he says police reveal this would be out of their jurisdiction.
Luke would need to also report this theft to the United States Postal Inspectors.
As for those packages that were stolen from his customers.
Luke says all have received their refunds.
