ALICE, Texas — Alice police arrested a man they said was armed with a rifle and tried to hide inside a nursing home in a patient's room.
It happened on Halloween night.
Alice PD said an officer was patrolling N. King St. and E. Third St. when the officer saw a man standing outside the Meridian Nursing Home with what appeared to be a rifle.
Police said the man, identified as Juan Manuel Chapa, tried to hide the weapon in his jacket when he saw the Officer.
Police said Chapa ran inside the Meridian Nursing Home to try and get away from the Officer.
Two Officers went after Chapa and said they found him inside a patient's room.
The patient did not know Chapa.
APD said the Officers then located a .22 long rifle under a patient's bed.
Chapa was arrested for unlawful carry of a weapon in a prohibited place, evading arrest, and public intoxication.
He was transported to the Jim Wells County Jail.
