A man who was mistakenly shot by police who were looking for a robbery suspect has now filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against those officers and the City of Corpus Christi.

The suit, filed in federal court on behalf of Richard Salazar, alleges excessive force on the part of the two officers involved.

The suit also claims Salazar’s civil rights were violated and says the officers were not properly trained.

Salazar was shot several times back in March by officers looking for two robbery suspects.

The officers said Salazar matched the description of one of the suspects.

The suit asks for just more than $12 million in damages.
