Police believe they have identified the boater who hit and killed a kayaker in Aransas Pass on Monday. <span data-ccp-props='{"201341983":0,"335551550":1,"335551620":1,"335559739":160,"335559740":259}'> </span>
According to the Aransas Pass Police Department, officers have located the boat and its operator, and now feel it was a tragic accident that led to the death of 31-year-old Trace Richardson of Portland.
Police say that, based on recovered evidence, the collision between the boat and Richardson’s kayak occurred around 5:42 a.m. May 27, more than 45 minutes before that day’s sunrise.
Richardson was not wearing a life jacket and did not have lights on his person or his kayak at the time of the accident, police said. <span data-ccp-props='{"201341983":0,"335551550":1,"335551620":1,"335559739":160,"335559740":259}'> </span>
